Greetings Shortgrass Directors!

I hope that everyone has had a fantastic summer, and is ready to get back to the grind of another school year. Before we know it, Shortgrass Honor Band auditions will be here, and this is just a reminder that the audition music is now up and online. You can print off copies of the music and scales at shortgrasshonorband.org.

please encourage your students to PRACTICE their music before next weeks clinic! Remind them that if they practice, the'yre sure to have a more fulfilling honor band experience.

Also, if any student cannot make it to next weeks clinic for any reason, please notify me ASAP so we can contact an alternate.

Directors,

The Shortgrass auditions are this Saturday January 11th in Cordell. There will be a directors meeting at 9:00 a.m. in the High School Library and the auditions will begin at 9:30 a.m.

Make sure all the directors from your school are at the audtions. It will take all of us to cover the judging assignments. All students will play one major scale, the chromatic scale at the bottom of their Shortgrass Scales sheet, both etudes from Set "C" and every student will sight read.

Scales DO NOT have to be memorized.

1. Good news! All of our clinicians and hosting sites are good to go for the back up dates. Thanks to our band chairs and hosts for getting everyone to commit...again! (Way to go AJ, Chris, Ann, Tim, Steve & Amy! Thank you!)

2. Please be aware that the clinic is now on a Monday and Tuesday, and that this changes the rehearsal schedule. It is now as follows:

Due to the rescheduling of 2nd round OMEA All-State to December 14th, we are going to postpone Shortgrass auditions to the back up date.

This scheduling change is a necessity due to the conflict that now exists between the two auditions: 1. We would not have enough judges for Shortgrass auditions, and 2. Many of our best students would be at OMEA 2nd round auditions, and not able to participate in Shortgrass.

Shortgrass auditions will now be held on Saturday January 11th at Cordell.

The honor band clinic will now be on Monday and Tuesday March 10th and 11th.
