I hope you have been able to print off your audition music with out any troubles and your students are hard at work on the music. Audition Registrations are now open. Please remember that the audition deadline is Friday, November 22.
The auditions are in Cordell on Saturday, December 14. The directors meeting is at 8:45 a.m. in the Cordell High School Library. The Auditions will begin at 9:30.

I hope that everyone has had a fantastic summer, and is ready to get back to the grind of another school year. Before we know it, Shortgrass Honor Band auditions will be here, and this is just a reminder that the audition music is now up and online. You can print off copies of the music and scales at shortgrasshonorband.org.
I am working my way down our clinicians list, to get our selections "locked down" for next years clinic.
Marc Mueller (who was our pick for HS next year) is already scheduled for another Honor Band next January but would love to do it in 2015. He would love to commit to it now if we are willing?
If there are not any objections, I will schedule him for Shortgrass 2015.

Happy New Year to all of you. I hope you had a restful and Happy Christmas Break. The Shortgrass Honor Band Clinic is next weekend (January 11, 12) in Elk City, at the Pioneer Center. Our clinicians are Cindi Lansford (high School), Mary Runyan (Junior High), and Belinda Watson (seventh grade). The High School band will be on the Pioneer Center stage, the Junior high will rehearse in the band room, and the seventh grade will rehearse in the choir room. Rehearsal schedules were put into every student folder.

The Shortgrass Auditions are this Saturday December 8 in Cordell. There will be a directors meeting at 8:45 a.m. in the High School Library and the auditions begin at 9:30 a.m.
Make sure all the directors from your school are at the audtions. It will take all of us to cover the judging assignment.
All students will play one major scale, the chromatic scale at the bottom of their Shortgrass Scales sheet, both etudes from Set "B" and every student will sight read.
Scales DO NOT have to be memorized.
The bug causing registration problems has been tracked down and (hopefully) fixed. Please let me know if you have any more issues. Again, the deadline has been extended to Tuesday, November 20th, so please be sure to get your students registered before Thanksgiving.

While the registration seemed to work for many of you, there are some persistent problems are being addressed. If you have trouble registering a student, please try again later this evening or over the next couple of days.
Because there are some problems registering, we are extending the deadline through next Tuesday, but we do ask you be sure to complete your registrations before leaving for Thanksgiving break.
